Getting there

Dumfries Ice Bowl is relatively easy to get to. Below are some options for getting to the Venue.

Directions

Driving directions and walking directions from bus and rail stations to the venue.

From The South:
Exit the M74 at Gretna and follow directions to Dumfries/Stranraer you are now on the A75. Approaching Dumfries you encounter the first roundabout (little Chef to left hand side), here you take the second exit (signposted Stranraer A75), you are now on the Dumfries bypass. At the second and third roundabouts head straight on following the Stranraer A75 signposts. At the fourth roundabout take the second exit (the first is an entry to a retail park), signposted Dumfries. The road then crosses a disused railway and brings you to a mini roundabout outside the Tesco Extra where you continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout take the third exit and immediately turn sharp left into the housing scheme. Follow the road for about 200 yards and take the first left you can now see the Ice Bowl on your right hand side.

From Glasgow / Edinburgh
Follow the A74 south until junction 15, signpost for Dumfries and Moffat. Exit the motorway here and follow signs for Dumfries (18 miles approx). Go straight through the first roundabout (Tesco Express petrol station on left hand side). At the second roundabout take the third exit (signposted to Stranraer) you are now on the A75 Dumfries Bypass. At the next roundabout take the second exit (signposted Dumfries), the road then crosses a disused railway and brings you to a mini roundabout outside the Tesco Extra where you continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout take the third exit and immediately turn sharp left into the housing scheme. Follow the road for about 200 yards and take the first left you can now see the Ice Bowl on your right hand side.

By Train
From Dumfries Railway Station pass the right-hand side of the Station Hotel and turn left onto Lovers Walk and proceed to the traffic lights at the junction with Edinburgh Road. Turn left and follow the road into Dumfries town center past Dumfries Academy (once attended by John Laurie and J M Barrie). Follow the main road past Burns Statue and on down Buccleuch Street on the left as you approach the traffic light you will see Cavens Arms which is highly recommended for both real food and real ales. Pass straight through the traffic light and cross Buccleuch Street bridge. On the far side of the bridge cross the road at the traffic lights and join Glasgow Street (dual carriageway) and then take the first left onto David Street. Take the first right onto King Street and you will see the Ice Bowl approximately two hundred yards along the road beside the football ground.

By Bus
All busses from "out of town" will either terminate or pass along the Whitesands (see map below). After alighting from the bus head up to the traffic lights at the top of the Whitesands and turn left onto Buccleuch Street Bridge. From this point follow the directions in the train section above.
